Negotiations are under way to bring the English Premier League giants to Singapore for an exhibition football match at the National Stadium in July, in what would be their third visit here.
Liverpool's commercial director, Ian Ayre, told Bloomberg News on Tuesday that the club would be playing in Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong at the end of the season.
'If you are going to build a business overseas, a key part is to allow people to touch and feel the product on a regular basis,' Ayre was quoted as saying.
'What's clear is that there's an opportunity for Liverpool to do much better than they had in the past.'
Singapore officials and promoters say the Reds' stopover is not a done deal yet.
When contacted, the Football Association of Singapore would only say that 'negotiations are ongoing with a few clubs'.
Said FAS general secretary Winston Lee: 'Since October last year, we have been talking to several clubs from the English Premier League and the Italian Serie A. However, nothing is in writing yet.'
It is believed that Singapore-based promoters Strategic Sports Investment, a subsidiary of the Profitable Group, is involved in the talks with Liverpool.
Tentative bookings have been made to stage the match at Kallang in mid-July. The 55,000-seater venue had hosted the Reds on two previous occasions.
